Two boiler services were carried out at a property in Istead Rise, Wrotham, Kent.
While carrying out a working test pressures check at the boilers, we discovered extremely dangerous low working pressures. A further test at the gas meter indicated a potential blockage on the incoming gas supply.
The minimum working pressure at the gas meter should be 19 millibar – we had 8.7 millibar. The emergency services were called and now the gas mains in the road and the feed to the property is being renewed.
This shows the importance of having your gas appliances serviced annually. If the customer had been using their gas fire, they could have easily been killed due to carbon monoxide poisoning.
